Loc Creme w/ ingredients

Good morning,

Loooong time no post...trying to work on that but, this post is to show off my Mixtress abilities.

This pic is on Loc Creme for my loc client that I have. I used some products from the beauty supply store but, stopped when reading the ingredients.





My creme ingredients are:

• Aloe Vera juice
• Herbal infused water (burdock root, comfrey root, lavender, and sage)
• Soybean oil
• Grapeseed oil
• Sweet almond oil
• Castor oil
• Horsetail butter
• Grade A shea butter
• Oat protein
• Calendula extract
• Honeyquat
• And a natural preservative called Tinosan SDC

It may seem like a lot of ingredients however, each serves a purpose for the hair growth, shine, and health. All of the oils and horsetail butter are light and absorbs easily. The shea butter is in there at a small percentage and will not weight the hair down.

Its a 8 ounce jar of goodness. I call it "Loc Creme" because I am using it on my loc clients however, I used it on my natural hair has well.

Style Profile: Loc Extensions

Hey World!! (*waving*)

It is Friday night and I wanted to post photos of today's loc extension installation. This lady has a neon blue/fushia mohawk and wanted neon loc extensions in 4 different colors (neon green, hot pink, pink, and blue). We started at 8am and was finished a little bit before 5pm. Below you will see the before and after pictures.

These are made out of synthetic hair instead of the human afro kinky hair. Mainly, because she wanted these vibrant colors and for this style to be done quickly (instead of waiting to purchase the human then dye it to the colors).

Style Profile: Loc Extensions....what are they??

 

You may have heard of this style but are not sure exactly why or what they are...

This is a form of starting locs for those whom may not want to go through the stages (baby, teenage, adult locs) & just want the adult locs. A person may get this style because their hair texture may not lock (or the process is taking much longer because of their hair texture). 

Even though, the end result looks as though you had these locs for years, your hair will still go through the locing stages (baby, teenage, and adult). Normally the client's hair and the extension hair will fuse together within the first 4 weeks and after the first wash. So, if you change your mind make sure it remove them in the 4 week time frame.

You can get the loc extensions as long, short, thick, medium, or thin as you like. For me I will need for your natural hair to be at least 3 1/2" - 4" long to be able to attach the loc to your hair. The extension hair used is human hair. The texture of the human hair is Afro Kinky Bulk. Good brands found in the local beauty supply store are Oscar K and Fashion Source. Online store is www.hisandher.com. This style can also be done with synthetic hair as well for a more semi-temporary style.

This is style can be done on any age and any texture of hair.

My Favorite Hair Brands

Here you will find a list of products for braids, twists, and locs - including the synthetic hair brands.

For regular single braids I use the RastAfri jumbo kanekalon hair. This hair is soft on my fingers, better quality for your hair, and resembles human hair. I also, use this hair the extension cornrow services as well.

To keep the shine and condition the scalp I like the Dr. Miracle's Braid Spray. It has a tingle feel and a semi-strong "medicated" smell. Or, try the Taliah Waajid Protective Mist Bodifier. This is an all natural product, great for keeping your hair moisturized while braided. This spray also as the "tingle" feel as well.

For the twist services I use the Black N Gold brand of synthetic dreadlock kinky hair and a different variety of products (not all at once though). I use an alcohol free gel called Twists N Locs mixed with some extra virgin olive oil and Taliah Waajid's African Healing Oyl.

Loc Butter Recipe

I wanted to let you know about a Loc Butter recipe I found (can also be used if you don't have locs). I'm all about making your own products to eliminate the synthetic and harmful ingredients that really do not help our hair but, just look good.


The recipe below is for 4oz. worth of loc butter but, you can double the amount for 8oz. or make half the amount for 2oz. (picture of the jar sizes are below). You can find all of these supplies from www.fromnaturewithlove.com.
